Parisienne Pour Un Weekend | August 26-28 2017 | Cinemagraph & Photography Workshop + Culinary & Photography Tour of Paris

from 1,697.00

This August, as the city starts to buzz after the end of "les vacances", Beth Kirby and Tiffany Mitchell will be hosting a mini-retreat in the form of a weekend get-away devoted to photography, cinemagraphs, and Parisian gastronomy. Our two days together will be spent immersed in the culinary world of Paris both "at home" in Beth's light filled Parisian pied-a-terre in the Marais and out on the town, and our evenings will end at some of Paris' most inspiring restaurants, including a farewell dinner at surprise location, one of the best in Paris.

Guests will be greeted at 5 PM on the evening of the 26th in Beth's home for a tasting of natural & artisan wines & French cheeses as well as introductions & a talk on the art of slow living + designing a life you love.

The following morning guests will meet back at her home for the first day of the workshop. We'll enjoy pastries and craft pour-overs from our favorite local café before spending the morning learning photography and how to create moving stills, a.k.a. cinemagraphs. We will break for a stroll through the Marais to lunch & prop shopping at Merci before returning to the apartment for more workshop fueled by plenty of rosé and Francoise Hardy tracks while we work. On this first day we'll be covering how to change digital camera settings & their effects on your photographs, lenses, food styling, prop styling, controlling & using natural light, editing photos in Lightroom, editing and creating cinemagraphs (moving stills), and how to build a brand and small business through social media and the art of sharing and visual storytelling. This is an ideal workshop for beginners.

On the next and final day we'll put on our walking shoes and take to the streets for a photography, flea market, & slow food tour of Paris where we'll capture some of the most scenic (and instagrammable!) shots from Monmartre to the Eiffel tower to the Seine to the Marais while stopping at some of our favorite prop shops and culinary gems along the way. The morning will start with pastries from the legendary Du Pain et Des Idees before catching the metro up to the largest and most famous flea market in Paris—we'll act as your guide and take you to the best, most well-curated section. We'll stop in a neighborhood bistro for lunch, and afterwards we'll stroll along the river Seine and meander to some of our favorite shops including the oldest cookware store in Paris, a chocolatier, and a spice shop. Once we've had our fill of sourcing, we'll find a spot in the gardens of the Palais Royale to sample (and photograph!) our spoils of chocolates, pastries, and macarons we've picked up along the way. After a little rest in the park we'll hit some of my favorite photography spots for magic hour photos before our farewell dinner at one of the best restaurants in Paris.

This brief sojourn is the perfect way to gift yourself a break to enjoy the slow pleasures of life; explore your creativity through the lens, food, and travel; and get inspired by fellow creative souls & the vibrant tastes of Paris. Guests will leave, we hope, with strengthened photography, styling, some beautiful photographs, and editing skills as well as relationships with other likeminded creatives.
